Sparkpoint Commons

Our desire is to reach out to the community of South Lakeland and become more than just another church building.  We truly desire to meet the needs of our community the way God intended the church to do.  That’s why we are creating Sparkpoint Commons, a place where our community can come together and find hope.  We want to be able to show the love Jesus has for us by giving all that we have to others.  Click here to read more about Sparkpoint and the plan God has for us.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.  Habitat has built more than 225,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1 million people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter.  Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat houses.  Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor — sweat equity — into building their Habitat house and the houses of others.  Church of the Highlands partners with Habitat for Humanity and a number of different projects throughout the year.  If you are interested in volunteering for the next Habitat for Humanity project you can visit them at www.habitat.org or you can join us on our next habitat project by emailing us at info@lakelandhighlands.org, or call us at 863-682-3100.
